The Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF) is the global thought leader, an active promoter and enabler of the transition towards a circular economy. UPM Raflatac is participating in two EMF activities: The Circular Economy 100 and The New Plastics Economy.
The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment
The New Plastics Economy is an initiative that brings together key industry stakeholders to create a circular economy for plastics, starting with packaging.
UPM Raflatac has signed up to the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment among hundreds of organisations including many of the world’s largest packaging producers, brands, retailers and recyclers, as well as governments and NGOs. Signatories include companies representing 20% of all plastic packaging produced globally.
Supporting customers’ goals through our solutions
When signing the commitment, we set targets that support our customers’ and brand owners’ goals. These reflect UPM’s commitment to work towards a future beyond fossils. At UPM Raflatac, we already offer solutions for reducing unnecessary plastic packaging with our various product solutions.
We support brand owners and clients to create recyclable packages by offering information regarding the packaging design. By working together, we can make sure that the label material choice supports packaging recyclability.
The Circular Economy 100
The Circular Economy 100 (CE100) is a pre-competitive innovation programme established to enable organisations to develop new opportunities and realise their circular economy ambitions faster. It brings together corporates, governments and cities, academic institutions, emerging innovators and affiliates in a unique multi-stakeholder platform. Specially developed programme elements help members learn, build capacity, network, and collaborate with key organisations around the circular economy.
CE100 members can collaborate formally in projects called “Co.Projects”. The aim of Co.Projects is to provide solutions and answers for the joint challenges companies are facing. We are also participating in Co.Projects, please contact us for more information about current activities.
