How do I know which adhesive is right for my application?
There are different adhesives for different applications. Adhesives can be classified according to the applications or type of adhesion. All of UPM Raflatac’s adhesives are solvent-free and environmentally friendly, without compromising performance.
Which UPM Raflatac adhesives are best suited for permanent applications?
Permanent adhesives are used in applications such as general-purpose barcode labeling for warehouse applications and office information labeling.
UPM Raflatac’s RP37 adhesive is a universal permanent adhesive designed for use with film face stocks, while RP51 and RP54 adhesives are strong, permanent adhesives for use with paper-based face stocks. UPM Raflatac’s RH1 adhesive is a high tack, permanent adhesive specially designed for non-polar and moist substrates. Non-polar substrates often present a challenge when labeling. For example, most plastics are non-polar substrates and are considered to be difficult applications.
Washable adhesives are permanent in nature, but can be washed away when the label is no longer needed, such as returnable packages, bottles, or plastic boxes. UPM Raflatac offers RP40 for such applications.
My application requires a label that can easily be removed, which adhesives are available?
The removable properties of an adhesive are dependent on the substrate and the storage conditions. UPM Raflatac’s RR22 is a universal removable adhesive designed for paper face stocks while RR28 has been developed for film face stocks.
Does UPM Raflatac offer any adhesives that are approved for direct food contact?
All of UPM Raflatac’s North American products have been approved for indirect food contact with dry or moist non-fatty foodstuffs. UPM Raflatac’s RP36ML is approved for direct food contact with dry or moist fatty foodstuffs such as with fruit, vegetable and meat labeling.
UPM Raflatac also offers deep freeze adhesives for packages stored in cold environments. RP48AT adhesive offers good adhesion to surfaces that are slightly moist and service temperatures ranging to -40˚F.
Does UPM Raflatac offer any adhesives for special applications?
UPM Raflatac has developed adhesives for a variety of special applications such as tire and pharmaceutical labeling.
