Industrial Chemical Labelling

Labelling in the industrial chemical industry covers many different applications including bulk chemicals, drummed chemicals, oils, paints and building and agricultural products.

Various issues can affect the industrial use of labels, for example which products conform to BS5609, which concerns self-adhesive labels for marine use. This standard contains provisions to ensure that dangerous goods transported by sea are durably labelled and identified, and would remain so after immersion at sea.

Health and Safety is important in the chemical industry. Self-adhesive laminates manufactured by UPM Raflatac are safe products in accordance with the material description given by EC Directive 2001/95/EC, Article 2(b).

Material safety data sheets as referred to in Directive 1999/45/EC, Article 14 and Directive 2001/58/EC are not applicable to pressure sensitive materials.

The presence of heavy metals is a concern in many applications including use in industrial chemical applications. UPM Raflatac complies with legislation concerning the presence of heavy metals.
