UPM Rafsec Gen 2 products now available

9/13/2005

UPM Rafsec, a leading RFID tag and inlay manufacturer is ready to fulfil RFID Gen 2 product demand from adopters around the globe. The UPM Rafsec short dipole OneTenna™ Gen 2 inlay is now available. The standard delivery formats of wet and dry inlays are compatible with existing converting technology for the insertion of inlays into smart labels or other substrates.

Since its introduction of the first EPC Gen 2 tag portfolio this June, UPM Rafsec has been delivering Gen 2 products to end-users and business partners for testing and qualification.
“We have received tremendous response from RFID hardware partners, converters and end-users concerning the performance, functionality and form factors of the UPM Rafsec's Gen 2 products. This period of testing and qualification has been important to ensure the RFID industry’s ability to deliver and support Gen 2 hardware and verify the backward compatibility of the existing RFID infrastructure,” says Samuli Strömberg, Vice President Marketing, UPM Rafsec.

In response to ongoing demand, particularly in North America, UPM Rafsec continues to support and deliver products compatible with the EPC Generation 1 Class 1 protocol. “UPM Rafsec is ideally positioned to manage the RFID market’s Gen 1-Gen 2 transition by providing continued support to customers with demand for Class1 Gen 1 technology while delivering EPC Gen 2 products. We will continue to build our reputation on availability, quality, and performance,” comments Jan Svoboda, Business Development Director USA, UPM Rafsec.
