Roll-to-sheet/VIP labeling
UPM Raflatac supplies a complete range of roll-to-sheet/VIP papers and films for monochrome and color printing. The main end-use areas in roll-to-sheet/VIP labeling are:
- Office labeling
- Small office and home office information labeling (SOHO)
- Logistic and laboratory labeling
- Industrial labeling
(outdoor and durable label applications)
Office information and SOHO labeling
Office information labeling covers address labels for direct mail and charity labeling applications, bar code labels, file labels and colored labels for deliveries or signing.
In SOHO labeling, the use of non-impact printing methods, such as laser or ink-jet printers and copiers, is largely done for the same purposes as in larger offices. Typical applications include name tags, record labels, file and folder labels, CD/DVD labels and photographic applications.
Logistic and laboratory labeling
Logistic labeling covers all kinds of transportation labels, mainly printed using monochrome and color laser printers.
In laboratory labeling, special materials are required for blank and pre-printed labels for test tube identification. Special materials may also be required for outdoor and durable labeling applications.
Color devices becoming more popular
The printing devices employed in this segment include copiers and laser and ink-jet printers.
The copiers and laser printers in use today are primarily monochrome. Current trends, however, suggest that color devices will gradually replace their black and white counterparts.
The shrinking divide between the initial purchase cost and price per printed page is one of the main reasons for this change. Consumer habits have also changed: black and white printouts don’t have the visual impact made possible by color.
