UPM Raflatac and Hansaprint in new NFC RFID tag portal launch
3.9.2009UPM Raflatac and Hansaprint are launching a groundbreaking NFC RFID tag portal, TagAge (www.tagage.eu), which allows customers to create and buy high-quality NFC-integrated print products online.
TagAge products include labels, patches, stickers and posters. All products can be customized and personalized, with order volumes ranging from just dozens to tens of thousands. The TagAge production supports variable data printing to include elements such as consecutive numbers, changing 1D/2D barcodes, text and images.
Using TagAge is easy. After choosing a suitable product type and size, the customer can upload the desired layout in PDF or one of the popular image formats. The customer selects the RFID tag type, positions it on the product and chooses an optional tag encoding information such as a url or SMS. Products can also be saved in a personal archive for later retrieval, editing and ordering.
“We’re extremely enthusiastic about launching the TagAge service. We believe we’re able to offer a unique proposition to the NFC market. In the emerging market, most customers require low volumes of customized products, and we believe our offering fits nicely with their needs,” says Mr. Jukka Saariluoma, Development Director, Hansaprint.
UPM Raflatac, the world’s leading manufacturer of RFID tags and inlays, is in charge of the development and manufacture of the tags used in the TagAge service. Hansaprint is responsible for developing the technical structure of the portal and the end production.
Both companies consider the emerging NFC market to be profitable and promising. By introducing the TagAge portal, they are seeking to provide an opportunity for customers worldwide to purchase even small quantities of tailored NFC products at affordable prices.
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range radio frequency communication technology that enables data exchange between devices a few centimetres or inches apart. NFC technology offers people an efficient and easy way of handling several everyday affairs. Applications enabled by NFC include contactless transactions for payment and transit ticketing, access to online content and simple data transfer.
