UPM Rafsec expands in Europe with a new sales office in Germany
31.1.2005UPM Rafsec, a leading RFID tag manufacturer and member of UPM Group, announces today the opening of a new sales office in Dreieich, Germany, in response to the growing demand for RFID technology and in particular for its state-of-the-art RFID tags.
Following recent mandates issued by large organizations such as Metro and Tesco, European suppliers of the fast moving consumer goods industry are gearing up to apply RFID tags to product shipments at a pallet and crate level. This acceleration of the market development created significant growth opportunities for UPM Rafsec, the world leading RFID tag manufacturer and pioneer of the EPC standard, as the retail industry is in dire need of reliable and performance optimized RFID tagging solutions in the UHF (ultra high frequency) area.
“Opening a sales office in Germany, in the heart of the European region and economy is a strategic move that will enable us to further strengthen our competitive advantage,” comments Timo Lindström, President of UPM Rafsec. “With so few companies who know exactly how to approach UHF systems and UHF tag technology, in particular at the current onset of market development, UPM Rafsec is determined to play a leading role in fostering the market penetration of advanced supply chain management applications based on the implementation of smart labels.”
Heading up the new sales office inaugurated in Germany by UPM Rafsec is Thomas Wythe, who joined the company as Sales Team Leader in January. He will report to Alex Boellaard, Sales Director, Europe.
“We are delighted to have Thomas Wythe come aboard, as he brings with him extensive experience in the fast moving consumer goods industry, notably in the area of packaging and printing technology,” comments Alex Boellaard, Sales Director, Europe.
Thomas Wythe is a packaging veteran with nearly 15 years of experience in the industry.
