La frequenza utilizzata per i sistemi RFID a ultrafrequenza (UHF) varia da 860 a 960 MHz. I sistemi RFID UHF funzionano a 915 MHz negli Stati Uniti e a 868 MHz in Europa. Grazie alla richiesta di diverse grandi aziende, tra cui i rivenditori internazionali e il Ministero della difesa statunitense, i sistemi RFID UHF sono largamente diffusi. Oltre che nel commercio al dettaglio, i sistemi UHF vengono utilizzati in varie applicazioni di gestione della supply chain.
