Rafsec Oy announces commissioning the world's first multi-protocol and multi-frequency quality assurance system

10.3.2003

Rafsec Oy announces commissioning the world's first multi-protocol and multi-frequency quality assurance system. The system was developed and designed by Softronica through an extensive two-year interaction with Rafsec for its production facilities in Jyväskylä, Finland.

Quality assurance is a key part of Rafsec's production. As RFID transponders are used as an essential part of end users business processes as data carriers, zero-defect quality is a prerequisite. Therefore Rafsec has invested in QA equipment since its inception. This is a continuation of Rafsec's commitment to quality.

Rafsec is a technology neutral manufacturer of RFID transponders, supporting a number of protocols in 13,56MHz, 868MHz and 915MHz. Also, each frequency has a number of different form factors. To support this manufacturing approach Rafsec contracted Softronica to design a QA system which is modular, and enables Rafsec to easily and quickly set up the system for it broad range of products. The system is used in all parts of Rafsec's production, including antenna manufacturing, IC attachment and its multitude of converting lines.

Rafsec's President Timo Lindström:"Our target was to have a QA system, which supports Rafsec's unique technology neutral approach in RFID transponder manufacturing. Softronica was willing to take the challenge. We are proud to say, that as a result of this partnership with Softronica, we are the first company in the industry capable of true multi-protocol and multi-frequency production capability, with integral quality assurance".

Softronica's President José María de la Peña:"We are very proud of our partnership with Rafsec in the development of this new generation of on-line QA systems. We share their long-term vision about the market future trends, and the need of this type of test technology for the increasing RFID demand that is to come".

Rafsec specializes in the production and development of card, ticket and label transponders. Rafsec was founded in 1997, and after two years of product development it began the production of RFID transponders in Jyväskylä, Finland. Rafsec's headquarters and product development are located in Tampere, Finland, and the company also has a sales office in London, Chicago and Singapore.

Softronica is a company based in Tres Cantos, Spain. Originally specialized in RF communication equipment, its involvement in RFID started 5 years ago with the development of a RFID reader for 13.56MHz. Its core competences in the RFID field are in the reader manufacturing, antenna design, automatic tuning units, and inlet measurement systems.
