Raflatac acquires self-adhesive laminate business in South Africa
2.5.2000"The purpose of the acquisition is to strengthen Raflatac's global presence in the self-adhesive laminate business", says Juhani Strömberg, CEO of Raflatac Group.
The acquisition included a laminating line, converting machinery and the trademarks Vynacal and Con-tact. The turnover of the acquired business is approximately ZAR 30 million and the company employs 30 people.
The production facilities of Vynide are currently located in Cape Town but they will be transferred to Durban by the end of the year. The production of Vynide will be expanded as a complement to Raflatac's current product range. The products will be marketed through Raflatac's global sales network.
The new production line in South Africa will also manufacture Raflatac's special products for label printers and converters. At present, all Raflatac's self-adhesive labelstock in reels sold in South Africa comes from Europe and is sold by Labelcote, a local agent. By March 2001, these sales will be transferred to Raflatac's South African organization.
Raflatac's operations in South Africa will be the responsibility of the newly appointed General Manager, Mr Ken Steyn.
