Multifunctional films for a wide range of uses

UPM Raflatac’s filmic pressure sensitive labelstock offers a sought-after combination of excellent performance and overall economy with two key features: high quality and multifunctionality. These two criteria are the guiding principles in the development of UPM Raflatac’s film production technology and processes. Proprietary custom-designed lamination lines, highly automated finishing techniques and a sophisticated quality control lab assure that films from UPM Raflatac consistently meet the high standards converters and end-users have come to expect.

Optimal film labelstocks are a synergy of three components: the film, adhesive and backing. UPM Raflatac’s film range comprises PE and PP face materials laminated with dedicated adhesives and paper-based or filmic backings. Together with long-term supplier partners, UPM Raflatac develops innovative and cost-competitive solutions that strike a critical balance between performance and aesthetic appeal.

The multifunctionality and versatility of UPM Raflatac’s film products makes them individually suitable for several end-uses. The main end-use segments served by UPM Raflatac’s film range are Personal Care, Food, Beverage, Oil, and Industrial Chemical.

Personal Care Dominated by strong end-users with strong brands. PE is the main product in use.
Beverage A segment in a process of very strong growth particularly in beer end-uses and also in spirits, soft drinks, flavoured alcoholic beverages and bottled waters. The products in use are mainly PP-based due to clarity requirements.
Food A broad and substantial segment which employs various combinations of products.
Oil A stable segment dominated by PE.
Industrial Chemical Specialized products meet the required durability specific to this industry.

Doubling film capacity in Europe

UPM Raflatac’s growth in films has outpaced average European market growth substantially. In view of growing demand for quality filmic pressure sensitive materials UPM Raflatac is implementing a comprehensive overhaul of its production facilities. The design is founded on UPM Raflatac's proprietary technology. When operational in autumn 2006, the ultra-modern new line will double the company's film capacity in Europe and set a new standard for cleanliness in the industrial-level production of filmic materials.
