Face Materials
Which face materials are best suited for high-quality product labelling?
For high-quality product labelling, UPM Raflatac's midgloss and high-gloss face materials are ideal for high print definition and fine detail. UPM Raflatac's Castgloss and Raflagloss products offer a high-gloss finish for top-quality product labels. Raflacoat and Raflasilk, UPM Raflatac's midgloss products, provide cost-effective solutions for high-quality, multicolour labelling.
UPM Raflatac also offers eye-catching fluorescents, colour vellum materials, foils and vacs designed for product labelling, advertising and decorative purposes.
When is a film material the right choice for product labelling?
Film materials are the right choice for demanding applications when paper materials are unable to perform. Film face materials offer unique packaging solutions such as a conformability, flexibility and durability not available with paper face materials. Films also offer exceptional water, oil and chemical resistance along with an excellent gloss and colour retention that traditional paper materials are unable to provide.
Both the technochemical and industrial labelling end-use markets use synthetic face materials for products ranging from oilcans to hazardous chemicals. Synthetics are also used in the home and personal care labelling market for products such as shampoos and shower gels, which require squeezable, water-resistant packaging.
For the ‘no-label look’, Raflaclear is an excellent choice because of its gloss, clarity and colour retention throughout the life of the product. Raflex Clear TC combines the squeezable properties of PE and quality print registration of PP, making it a unique solution for labelling cosmetics.
Which face materials are best suited for information labelling?
For office and retail information printing, uncoated papers are often the optimal choice. UPM Raflatac’s uncoated Vellum TTR material is the economical choice for printing by thermal transfer. For matt-coated solutions, UPM Raflatac offers Transfer Matt and new Transfer Xtra for durable, high-quality industrial information labelling.
In cooperation with leading manufacturers and printers of face materials, UPM Raflatac is constantly developing new A4 materials that provide end-users with the best possible printing results. UPM Raflatac’s Jetlaser is an uncoated, universal face stock suitable for a variety of applications. The Jetgloss and Lasergloss products offer a high-gloss finish suitable for photo-quality printing. UPM Raflatac also offers several film products in the A4 line to meet the requirements of virtually all applications.
For direct thermal labelling applications, UPM Raflatac offers both the Thermal Top and Thermal Eco face materials. UPM Raflatac’s Thermal Top is barrier-coated on the topside, smudge proof and offers good scratch resistance for transport, logistics, shipping and industrial information labelling. Thermal Eco is the economical choice for short-life applications in safe, scratch-free environments.
