How do I know which adhesive is right for my application?
There are different adhesives for different end-uses. Adhesives can be classified according to the end-use or type of adhesion. All UPM Raflatac adhesives are solvent-free and environmentally friendly, without compromising performance.
Which UPM Raflatac adhesives are best suited for permanent applications?
Permanent adhesives are used in a variety of end-uses, such as general purpose EAN barcode labelling in automatic warehousing and office information labelling in both small and large business settings. UPM Raflatac’s RP 51 adhesive is a strong permanent adhesive designed for general use on a variety of substrates, while RH 1 is a high tack, permanent adhesive specially designed for non-polar and moist substrates. Both adhesives are best suited for paper face materials, while RP 37 is a universal permanent adhesive designed specifically for use with synthetic face materials.
Washable adhesives are permanent in nature but can be washed away when the label is no longer needed. UPM Raflatac offers RP 45 and RP 40 for applications such as returnable packages, bottles, or plastic boxes.
My application requires a label that can easily be removed. Which adhesives are available?
The removability properties of an adhesive are dependent on the substrate and the storage conditions. UPM Raflatac’s RR 21 is a universal removable adhesive designed for paper face materials, while RR 28 has been developed for synthetic face materials.
Labels with semi-permanent adhesives can be easily removed from the substrate directly after labelling, but will become permanent over time. UPM Raflatac’s RS 32 has been designed for applications such as video labelling where initial removability is required.
Does UPM Raflatac offer any adhesives that are approved for direct food contact?
Most of UPM Raflatac’s adhesives have been approved for direct contact with dry, moist and non-fatty foodstuffs. UPM Raflatac’s RP 36 ML is suited specifically for direct meat labelling.
UPM Raflatac also offers deep freeze adhesives for packages stored in cold environments. The RP 48 adhesive offers good adhesion to surfaces that are slightly moist in service temperatures down to -40˚ C.
Does UPM Raflatac offer any adhesives for special applications?
UPM Raflatac has developed adhesives for a variety of special applications such as cases involving high temperatures or requiring solvent resistance, tyre labelling and pharmaceutical labelling. Whatever the application, UPM Raflatac has an adhesive to meet every expectation.
