Food Labelling
Food labelling is the most diverse of all label end-uses, ranging from product tracking and marking sell-by dates to promotion. Labels for use in the food industry in many cases need to retain their adhesion properties when applied to cold and moist surfaces and also when subsequently placed in deep freeze storage. Food labels may require good resistance to fat and oil.
The substrates to be labelled include glass, hard and soft plastics, fibre-based materials like paper or board, and metals. Special areas in this segment include open-closure (resealing) applications, direct food contact such as fruit labelling, and promotional booklet labels
containing recipes, etc.
Labels used in the food industry serve the purpose of having an eye-catching effect at the point of sale and guide the branding of food products. Food labelling with the aim of price marking is covered by the Retail segment, labelling for transportation by the Logistics segment, and labelling on water bottles, liquid dairy products and juice bottles by the Beverage segment.
