UPM Raflatac's new film product innovations at Labelexpo Europe 2007

28.9.2007

(UPM Raflatac, Tampere, September 28, 2007) – At Labelexpo Europe, UPM Raflatac will showcase its versatile, global filmic product portfolio created especially for the home and personal care, beverage, and oil industries. The doubling of filmic capacity in Europe along with ongoing efforts to develop thinner, clearer and cleaner films will be highlighted, too.

"There’s an ongoing trend to create thin films. A standard construction today is a 30 micron PP face with a 30 micron PET backing. We’re putting a lot of effort into going beyond this, making films even thinner and even more invisible," says Jan Hasselblatt, Director of Standard Films at UPM Raflatac. "The idea of a global film that’s the same in all parts of the world is popular with big end-users. And with our global manufacturing platform we already have a portfolio of global films. To maintain our current growth, we’ll continue turning out new innovations - with a true passion for films."

As a result of ongoing investments and consistent R&D, UPM Raflatac will display a number of novelties at the exhibition:

Raflex Plus film label material, now available also in Europe, is ideal for high-quality personal care applications requiring good conformability and squeezability. Raflex Plus Clear TC and Raflex Plus White TC are thin, topcoated films offering optimum flexibility, and eliminating wrinkling tendencies on squeezable substrates.

Raflatube leads UPM Raflatac's new range of labelstocks specifically designed for squeezable tubes used in segments like personal care and the food and pharmaceutical industries. The tube range successfully combines technical functionality for repeated squeezing, shelf-appeal and cost-efficiency. Two adhesives for standard and demanding end-uses are available on three face materials that bring out the best in any design – a white and transparent-matt PE, and the new, ultra-clear Raflatube.

Thin, warm and gentle to the touch, Soft Touch PP is the perfect match for labelling a new generation of soft, velvet-like packaging designed to appeal to the senses. Soft Touch PP has been specially developed for personal care end-uses yet suits any label application where feelings make all the difference.

Product brochures are available on UPM Raflatac's website at www.upmraflatac.com under News and Publications. You can order them in print or download PDF files.
