UPM Rafsec unveils its Gen2 product portfolio featuring OneTenna
28.6.2005UPM Rafsec, a leading RFID tag manufacturer and member of UPM Group, announces that it will present the world’s first global Gen2 tag portfolio for retail supply chain at Smart Labels USA 2005 in Baltimore, Maryland on June 27th – 30th. After developing the first Gen1 EPC tag in 2003, UPM Rafsec is again leading the industry in the development of high performance RFID tags, with an innovative approach that benefits customers by improving speed and cost-effectiveness of UHF RFID tag design and production.
The approach, named Rafsec OneTenna, allows a single antenna design to function in every region of the world. With OneTenna, it is no longer necessary to produce numerous antenna designs to meet the different regional RFID regulations. The placement of the IC guarantees the optimum performance in a certain region. OneTenna simplifies and speeds up the design and production process, thus allowing UPM Rafsec to improve product availability for customers.
UPM Rafsec will continue to manufacture and support its Gen1 HF and UHF products, in order to best serve its global customers, regardless of which EPCglobal standard they follow.
The new UPM Rafsec factory in Fletcher, North Carolina (USA), scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2005, will concentrate on high-volume production of UHF EPC tags used primarily in retail supply chain management, for example by companies that need to meet the Wal-Mart and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) mandates.
