Raflex a success in Poland

20.5.2003

Since the introduction of Raflex onto the European market in September 2001, Raflatac Polska has been working hard to endorse the product.

Jon Lenck, Managing Director, Raflatac Polska, Poland explains, "The challenge has been to convince printers and end-users to try something a little bit different. After all, changing is an investment."

Raflatac Polska has worked with P.S. Unicum to help test and evaluate how well Raflex meets customers’ needs. Located in Koziegłowy, Poland, P.S. Unicum produces both paper and synthetic labels for the food, cosmetics, technochemical and retail information markets. Raflatac already had a long-standing relationship with the company and so the process began with a sales call in mid-2001 to introduce the product.

Jerzy Malas, Managing Director, P.S. Unicum elaborates, "We found that with Raflex, colour was easily adjusted. It also had fewer print imperfections than traditional PE synthetics. Moreover, Raflex is easily die cut due to the low tool pressure required by such a low-caliper material. Overall, less waste and down time has resulted in more cost-efficient products," Malas comments.

P.S. Unicum began using Raflex in January 2002 and has since steadily increased its production with the material. The company uses Raflex for its cosmetics, health and beauty, and household chemical self-adhesive labels.

Raflex facts

Raflex is a biaxially oriented polyolefin-based film, available in white and clear. The material offers end-users the flexibility of a polyethylene-based material while providing the high-quality print register of a polypropylene. At only 50 microns it is Raflatac’s thinnest synthetic material. Due to the material’s resistance to water, oil and chemicals, the product is primarily used for cosmetics, technochemical and health and beauty labels.
