Direct thermal and thermal transfer – combined for convenience
10.11.2003In addition to introducing Raflatac’s Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer product ranges, the brochure gives basic technical information about direct thermal and thermal transfer printing. The publication discusses thermal transfer printing with wax, wax-resin and resin transfer ribbons as well as the essentials of printing by direct thermal over pre-press inks.
Thermal Transfer for durability
Thermal transfer printing yields the more durable printed image of the two thermal printing techniques. A sizeable choice of ribbon makes thermal transfer extremely flexible, with good scanability by both visible red and infrared light.
Raflatac’s thermal transfer product range has been designed to meet virtually every end-use where a durable label is required – tracking and tracing, product identification, logistics and industrial applications. All of Raflatac’s thermal transfer products carry the company’s thermal transfer guarantee.
Direct thermal – when economy counts
Direct thermal printing is primarily employed in applications that don’t require a long label life. Direct thermal is usually the more economical solution, but is more susceptible to fading and abrading in challenging environmental conditions.
Raflatac’s direct thermal product range includes ECO, SEMI and TOP products for quality label printing in retail, catch weight and logistical end-uses. The brochure explains the importance of both static and dynamic sensitivity as well as the construction of Raflatac’s Direct Thermal ECO, SEMI and TOP products.
“The advances made over recent years in the fast-paced thermals segment are still ongoing. As part of the progressive development of the Thermal Transfer range, Raflatac works in collaboration with the main producers of thermal transfer ribbons and suppliers of paper. Printed with the same thermal technology and at work in similar areas of application, Raflatac’s Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer product ranges are presented together in the new Direct Thermal Transfer brochure,” comments Didier Monchot, Product Manager for Raflatac.
