Raflatac Ltd. celebrated 25 years

Raflatac Ltd., Scarborough, celebrated 25 years of successful business on 10th November 2000.

The UK market leader in the manufacture of synthetic and paper-based self-adhesive labelstock was first established in 1975. Acquired by Raflatac in 1984, the company became a significant part of one man’s vision for the future. Raflatac’s current chairman, Juhani Strömberg had a goal of making the company the leading manufacturer of self-adhesive labelstock in Europe. Scarborough had an integral role in this strategy.

Big investments
In response to the industry’s demand for increased capacity, Raflatac frequently makes investments to the plant. Recent investments have totaled over £12 million which have included state-of-the-art production facilities, increasing capacity and the speed of manufacture, in addition to improving the flow of material through the factory. A major extension and refurbishment has been made to the office areas, laboratory and training rooms which are all now equipped with some of the most advanced technological equipment in the field. “Raflatac is recognized as a major supplier of high-quality products and services. Raflatac has ten factories in four continents and a wide network of terminals and sales offices throughout the world. The company employs around 1600 persons and its turnover in 1999 was EUR 540 million.
