We’ve launched an online productivity calculator for packers using labelstocks backed with PP30, our 30-micron polypropylene liner for high-volume paper faces. Work out the significant productivity gains achievable with PP30 not only for yourself but for your customers as well.
More labels, less reel changes
Switching from an HG65 liner to PP30 reduces the overall thickness of the labelstock. This reduces reel diameters and allows more printers to move up from 2,000 metre reels to 4,000 and in some cases 6,000 running metres. Obviously this makes label production more efficient when fewer reel changes are required.
For packers, the increased reel length with PP30 compared to an HG65 liner provides up to 20% more labels per reel: 20% more labels in most cases means 20% fewer reel changes, and fewer reel changes means less downtime and more time getting on with the business of packing.
PP30 is also more robust which allows the speed of application to be increased without the fear of breakage whilst maintaining excellent print registration.
Doing the math
In a nutshell, the packer can either reduce costs by using fewer manned production hours, or achieve a significant increase in production volume without expensive additional investments. We’ve already seen packers achieving double-digit percentages in labelling productivity gains: that’s a serious implication for any company’s bottom line.

Don’t forget that used polypropylene liner is a valuable material which makes it possible to recycle commercially. Customers of UPM Raflatac will be reimbursed for PP liner waste collected from packers and delivered through our RafCycle™ program.
