Squeezable containers make up a large percentage of the personal care market, and they bring their own unique labeling challenges. Labeling solutions must be flexible and resilient enough to survive in environments that are often damp or humid – while still being attractive and informative for consumers.
Packaging labels need excellent conformability and squeezability, and must be able to cover round and curved shapes, often with thin walls. Tube labeling in particular requires very good flexibility.
The right label for your product
Shower gel and shampoo packaging is the biggest sub-segment within personal care packaging, with white and clear polyethylene (PE) film the most popular choice of label material for squeezable bottles. PE is the most flexible and conformable label film, making it ideal for the squeezable packages in this segment.
PE is also a strong performer on round and contoured container shapes. Body, skin, and hair care products all benefit from this flexibility, as do sun care and male grooming products.
UPM Raflatac’s new PE 65 is the thinnest in our range of PE film label stock. With excellent conformability, squeezability and resistance against water, oils and chemicals, it is perfect for home and personal care labelling applications.
Due to the high stiffness of PE, it is suitable for large labels and can be printed without a topcoat.
The best label adhesives for squeezable containers
RP37 and RF37 offer good adhesion on polar and non-polar surfaces, combined with good resistance to water, chemicals, oils, and UV light. Their high cohesion provides clean and stable performance during label conversion and dispensing. RP37 is supplied with paper liners and RF37 with PET film liners, enabling maximum productivity in high-speed label conversion and dispensing processes.
For applications that require high adhesion or higher resistance against content chemicals,
RC18 are appropriate choices.
RS29 is ideal for applications requiring re-positionability, while
RR28 is perfect for applications that need long-term removability.
