Management systems certifications
UPM Raflatac has global multisite certificates for ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards. A corporate certificate demonstrates that our systems, processes and tools to manage our quality and environmental performance are conforming to the above mentioned standards and are globally consistent.
In addition, the UPM Raflatac factories in Finland, the UK and Poland have been certified according to the ISO 22000:2005 food safety standard. The certificate ensures that the food label products manufactured at these factories meet all the relevant legal requirements for food contact materials.
The management systems are certified and regularly audited by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
Learn about our FSC™ and PEFC™ certifications
UPM promotes good forest practices through its forest certification program. Certified forests are those that have been assessed as being managed sustainably. This means that environmental, social and economic aspects of forest management are taken into account.
UPM recognizes and participates in all credible forest certification programs, including the two major international ones, namely FSC (Forest Stewardship Council™) and PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) which have developed standards for verifying sustainable forest management. By fulfilling these forest management standards and tracking the wood from the forest to product using chain of custody, the FSC or PEFC logo may be used.
Having a chain of custody certificate from FSC and PEFC verifies that the wood used in a product is:
- from responsibly managed forests
- legally harvested
- controlled and from non-controversial sources
Currently about nine percent of the world’s forests are certified. The availability of certified paper for UPM Raflatac products depends on the amount and type of certified wood and pulp available to the paper mills supplying UPM Raflatac.
