The logistics and transport segment is a rapidly growing end-use area for pressure sensitive labels. The life of the label is rather short. Labels are used for routing, inventory and tracking and tracing. Direct thermal and laser are the main printing techniques used to print variable information. Thermal transfer is still in use but declining in the transport sector, where scratch resistance is the key criterion. Flexography is the main technique used for pre-printing labels in one or two colours.
