UPM Raflatac at Labelexpo Europe 2007: Labelling a New Europe26.9.2007
(UPM Raflatac, Tampere, September 26, 2007) – UPM Raflatac’s theme, 'Labelling a New Europe', at this year's Labelexpo Europe underlines the growth of the labelling industry in the largest single market in the world. Focus will be on the 90 million euro investment made in Poland and its benefits to customers. UPM Raflatac will also showcase its versatile filmic labelstock portfolio created especially for the home and personal care, beverage, and oil industries. In addition, the company's enhancing special business offering and increasing range of HF and UHF RFID products for various end-uses will be presented at the exhibition.
Poland to complete the largest ever investment programme
To further improve its service capability, UPM Raflatac is completing its largest ever investment programme spanning the years 2005 to 2008. By early 2009, UPM Raflatac will have built altogether eight new state-of-the-art coating lines over a four-year period and expanded and upgraded its slitting and finishing operations worldwide.
In Europe this investment programme has doubled the company's filmic capacity and it will provide a new coating line for specialty products. Labelexpo is also a fitting occasion to celebrate UPM Raflatac’s recent announcement to invest in a new manufacturing and logistics centre in Wroclaw-Kobierzyce, Poland. The new Polish facility will be the core, large volume production site both for the quickly developing eastern European market and the sizeable market in western Europe.
Working for a sustainable future
Placing environmental issues high on the agenda, UPM Raflatac is currently implementing the environmental ISO 14001 certification process to standardise its environmental performance across its factories globally. UPM Raflatac is also developing initiatives to recycle its process residues, and later possibly those of others, into products made from a wood-plastic composite. The company's exhibition stand introduces UPM ProFi, a new product using self-adhesive waste as raw material. Suitable for patio decking, UPM ProFi is being used for the exhibition stand's floor construction.
UPM Raflatac has also recently received both PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certification for labelstock produced at its Scarborough factory in the UK. These certification schemes verify that the wood used in several UPM Raflatac labelstock products originate from sustainably managed and certified forests.
UPM Raflatac will be exhibiting at stand 5D60, Hall 5.
President of UPM Raflatac Heikki Pikkarainen and Senior Vice President, RFID Christer Härkönen will give the keynote presentation Challenging our business – today's RFID and environmental opportunities and participate on the panel discussion chaired by Mike Fairley on Wednesday, September 26. The event will take place at the Auditorium 500, Hall 7 at the Brussels Exhibition Centre at 15:00-16:15.
