The inauguration of Raflatac’s Shanghai factory in China at the end of September was a success. The ceremony was attended by close to 200 people, who included customers, suppliers, end-users, officials, other interest groups and Raflatac staff.

The Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade Mr Jari Vilén was also present with a business delegation. The inauguration ceremony was followed by a factory tour and an outside lunch party.

Raflatac’s Shanghai production facility has been in operation since 2001 and is now in full swing, running two production lines. The Shanghai factory will supply the Chinese market with new, locally manufactured paper-based and synthetic self-adhesive laminates, for all the key labelling end-use areas. The factory’s capabilities also include the manufacture of hot melt and acrylic adhesives.

Raflatac serves the Asia-Pacific region from its factories in Malaysia, China and Australia and a wide network of sales offices.

“Asia is a key market area for Raflatac. Our goal is to achieve a market share in Asia equivalent to our global market share. We now have a good production capacity, an extensive sales service and an organization of top experts in the region,” says Ilkka Ylipoti, Vice-President, Area Director Asia-Pacific and Africa.

Raflatac’s investment in the Asian market has brought new possibilities for product development in cooperation with label printers. As a result, Raflatac has the ability to assist its customers in the development of their own products and their business.
